I spent the first 17 years of my career in various government legal positions in the Australian Public Service.
The work was interesting and challenging, and for the most part, I was happy. However, I always wondered whether being a Government lawyer was what I had been put on this earth to do.
Does your life lack meaning or significance?
After being made redundant, I ran a network marketing business for 2 years. While this taught me a great deal about myself, I never did find the meaning and significance that I thought that running my own business would bring, and eventually decided that this would never be my primary source of income..
At around the same time that I came to this conclusion, I was given the opportunity to train as a John C Maxwell speaker, teacher, trainer and coach. I had already been exposed to John Maxwell’s material in my network marketing business, and it had had a profound effect on my life. So, I decided to do the training, so that I could share this material with others.
You really can lead a meaningful and fulfilling life
Gradually, I discovered that my purpose was to inspire, encourage and empower others. After working with a coach, I realised that I wanted to live out my purpose by helping people discover their’s.
It was like a light had been switched on. As I started to live out my purpose, I discovered a new energy for life. My friends and family started commenting on how well and happy I looked. For the first time in my life, I felt that I was doing what I was meant to do.
